Country Engagement Photography

Liz, Dutch & Sam: Equine Engagement Session
Horses make creating photos so much fun.  Sam, was very well behaved and even endured a pink Lycra body suit to keep clean prior to the portrait session. Liz is a dedicated horse trainer committed to both Dutch and Sam so naturally Liz and I plotted to incorporate both boys.  It was a cold yet sunny photo shoot; in some of the images, Sam's breath is visible. It was loads of fun  to work with this country couple in such a majestic setting at Little Washoe Lake. I am so grateful for the opportunity.  Please click on the images to view them larger.  Thanks for viewing, Candice

natural lighting: senior photos

Radiant Maddy showed up completely freshed-faced, and opened her trunk which was overflowing with a whimsical selection of clothes, headbands, and jewels seeking my input for her senior portraits (I love giving input). Maddy assisted me last year during her sister's senior portrait session, and seemed to possess great insight into my creative process.  She was a dream to photograph. We settled on her grandma's cheetah print, bell-sleeved tunic as her second to the last option, and I couldn't pass up paying homage to Florence Welch with some of the poses. After all, Florence was the reason I regrettably cut bangs (for the last time) in 2012. I am thrilled with the images--Maddy was able to offer a wide variety of moods and poses. It is such fun connecting with teens and finding a way to convey their personalities; in Maddy's case I strived to capture her free-spirit, joy, beauty and sincerity. All of the images were created in natural light. (Please click on the images to view them larger).

Indian Wedding Photography & Western Wedding Photography

MANISH & KRISTIE
O to the M to the G. . . double weddings, 'costume changes', and horse entrances are simply the best.  Especially when the groom fears horses.  I actually think Manish  escaped potential doom as it is tradition in his Indian culture to arrive via elephant.  But, then again, I have never ridden an elephant so I might be biased.  I don't think I have ever laughed so much at a wedding between Kristie's mom, who is a stand-up comedian in her free time, and Manish's sharp wit, and the very amusing and thorough Indian officiator, it was an extremely fun and entertaining day--I learned a great deal too. I am very grateful to have documented two joyous occasions with beautiful people, culture and details. Thank you! (Please click on the images to view them larger).

Fine-Art & Documentary Style Senior Portraits: Carlyn

Carlyn's gorgeous bone structure and dramatic brows remind me of the bust of Nefertiti.  She was a delight to photograph.  I kept the posing simple and fresh to reflect her quiet nature. It was fun to photograph a teenager who was fresh-faced and styled like a teenager, yet possessed the poise and self-awareness of someone much older.  Click to view the images larger.
