Swedish Wedding Elin & Stefan

This January I began my season with Elin & Stefan's gorgeous wedding in southern Sweden at Bäckaskog Castle.  The original portion of the historic castle was a monastery constructed in the 13th century. It was a spectacular opportunity and Swedes sure know how to organize, entertain and structure a wedding. The wedding began with the ceremony in the castle's chapel, followed by the cocktail hour in the king's former living area, and ending with the reception in the former corral.  There were many surprise performances, games and activities which included all of the guests. Many special memories were made and captured. Thank you for allowing me to document your beautiful wedding! xoxox, Candice (please click on the images to enlarge them.)

Documentary Portraits: Asha & Harper

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory. -- Dr. Seuss

It is such a joy to photograph kids in their home environment; it is my favorite way to photograph children.  There is a special intimacy, contentment, and freedom within the home that is hard to duplicate in an alternative setting. Asha and Harper, both beautiful and vibrant, were great fun to document. Harper was going through a phase of wearing mismatched shoes and giggled excitedly nearly every time I raised my camera. Asha took great pride in giving me a tour of her home and impressively played her piano--not a surprise considering Asha & Harper's father is a world-renowned musician. Twenty Mile House Wedding Photography: Lindsay & Kyle

It was great fun documenting Lindsay and Kyle's wedding at one of my favorite venues: Twenty Mile House, in Cromberg, Calif.  They are a very active, spirited couple who partook in a Portland bike race on their first date. So they incorporated their history into their wedding day with a bicycle wedding topper, guest book, and place cards. Lindsay's vintage inspired dress was custom made for her by a dressmaker in Portland. Twenty Mile House is a naturally beautiful venue that doesn't need a lot of decorating so Lindsay's succulent bouquet and center pieces complimented the surroundings perfectly. Nevada Museum of Art Wedding Photography: Dom & Zeina

Dom & Zeina are generous and kind people and friends. Consequently, it was a special honor to document their wedding and to meet a number of their relatives and friends.  They infused their guests with a sense of community, culture and art. They braved the rooftop of the Nevada Museum of Art on a blustery April evening where they exchanged moving, custom vows. We ended up doing the portraits inside where it was fun to incorporate some of the museum and exhibits into the images. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
